Burmatex’s key principle is sustainability, from yarn to the final product made just for you. The Floorist is dedicated to promoting green practices in Dubai. Here are some amazing facts about Burmatex’s eco-friendly manufacturing process in the UK, which sets them apart globally:
Universal Fibers introduced a groundbreaking development for Burmatex by producing carbon negative yarn. Here’s how it’s made:
Utilizes 100% post-industrial recycled resin, minimizing raw material use and waste.
Captures and reintegrates over 99.9% of waste, reducing environmental impact.
Employs energy-efficient techniques, resulting in a carbon footprint of 1.5kg CO2 equivalent versus 9.6kg for traditional methods.
Partners with Carbonfund.org for forest conservation and reforestation, ensuring carbon negativity.
On their journey to Net Zero, they had to find new ways of reducing their carbon emissions to help tackle climate change and reduce global warming. Ultimately, all their products are third-party independently verified as embodied carbon neutral. This vital goal drives them to develop such innovations as their unique BioBase low carbon backing system and to invest in products such as the world’s first carbon negative recycled yarn.

Burmatex understands that their actions impact the environment, and are committed to acting responsibly. Here are some of their key initiatives:

In 2010, Burmatex® committed to using only 100% certified renewable electricity. They continue to reduce their energy usage and invest in renewable energy generation. In 2021, they commenced Project Zero Landfill, a company- wide initiative to reduce waste generation and sustainably process remaining waste. By 2022, they achieved a significant milestone by diverting all waste from landfill. They increased recycling to almost 50%, with the remainder used to provide energy for local social housing for low-income families.
