Hand Tufted Carpets
Hand tufted carpets are among the most luxurious, creative and artistic carpets in the world of carpet production. We are proud at The Floorist to offer a wide range of elite hand tufted carpet solutions for our clients.
The ever-evolving role of Hand tufted carpets have a rich history that spans from ancient times to the modern era. The technique can be traced back to ancient Persia, where skilled weavers created intricate and beautiful designs. These carpets were highly prized and traded across regions, showcasing the craftsmanship of Persian culture. The oldest known tufted textile dates to the 2nd or 3rd century AD and is believed to be of Egyptian-Roman origin. Hand tufted rugs and carpets were also popular in the Arabian Peninsula, used in palaces and homes as heritage items reflecting tradition and hard work ultimately becoming a luxury in the form of artistic textile creation across the globe.
In the late 19th century, Catherine Evans Whitener in Dalton, Georgia, popularized hand tufted items. This innovation led to the development of tufting machines in the 1930s, allowing for mass production. By the 1950s, tufted carpets had gained significant popularity due to their affordability and comfort. The introduction of synthetic yarns and wider tufting machines further revolutionized the industry. Today, hand tufted carpets are known for their luxurious textures and intricate designs, offering a beautiful and practical flooring option for homes and commercial spaces. The Floorist continues this tradition, providing high-quality hand tufted carpets that reflect the rich heritage and craftsmanship of this ancient art form.
The Floorist offers one of the most innovative programs: creating custom, hand-tufted carpets in the Hospitality, Residential & Commercial Industries. These luxurious, creative, and artistic carpets are crafted using high-quality yarns, primarily 100% New Zealand wool. Other yarns such as nylon, cotton, and viscose are also used as needed. Accents in silk or bamboo add a rich sheen, while Merino and semi-worsted wool yarns provide intricate design details and a smooth, soft, and durable surface.
Clients can choose from a wide variety of surface options and finishes, including cut-pile, loop pile, or a combination. Finishing techniques like random shearing and carving add elegance and a three-dimensional effect. There are no limitations to shapes and sizes—if you can dream it, we can create it.
After the design process, our skilled designers render the custom design into a production-ready format using advanced CAD software. Once approved, a sample is produced in the requested design, scale, color, and finish. This "prototype" process typically takes 3-4 weeks to complete. Choose The Floorist for hand-tufted carpets that combine luxury, creativity, and artistry, tailored to your unique style and needs.
